Helen is Barnstaple born and bred. After graduating from Exeter University with a BA (Hons) in Accountancy, she trained with a local firm of accountants and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992.


After joining Stevens & Willey in 1993, Helen became a partner in 1998.


Married to Ian, they have two young children who attend their local primary school. In what little spare time she has, Helen enjoys keeping fit and reading.

Ian Mansford

Ian was born in Lincoln and moved to North Devon as a young boy. Educated at Bideford School he joined a local firm of accountants after attaining A levels.


Before joining Stevens and Willey in 1998, Ian's career includes experience in working at two of the "top six" national accountancy firms in Plymouth and Bath.


Married to Helen, when he is not working Ian enjoys spending time with their children and running. In his younger days Ian enjoyed playing local football.

Nick is in his early fifties and was born and raised in North Devon. After attending Combe Martin Primary and Ilfracombe Comprehensive Schools, he studied at Bristol Polytechnic before training with a North Devon firm of Chartered Accountants.


He spent over 19 years with that firm, managing their offices in South Molton and then Ilfracombe, before joining Stevens & Willey in 1997. Nick became a partner in 2005.


Nick has two sons, both currently attending University.


For over twenty five years Nick was heavily involved in the administration of local football, both at Club level and with local League and Cup competitions. He regularly attends keep fit and his hobbies include reading and playing snooker (poorly!) in the Ilfracombe & District Snooker League.

Amanda Hicks - FCCA

Although not Devon born and bred, Amanda has spent the majority of her life living in Devon, the last twelve of which being in the north of the County.


In her youth, she was an active member of the Young Farmers Club and as well as holding office as both club Treasurer and Chairman, Amanda competed in many competitions including sheep shearing!


Hobbies include walking, badminton, swimming, keep fit and the latest addition is surfing! She is a qualified walking guide for HF Holidays and spends her holidays guiding groups of walkers in the UK and abroad.


Amanda has been working in finance since leaving school and has a wide experience of both industry and practice accounting. She joined Stevens & Willey and qualified as a Certified Accountant in 2001. Amanda was promoted to Partner in October 2007.

David was born in Surrey, before his family moved to North Devon when he was just four years old. Whilst undergoing his education at Bishops Nympton and South Molton schools and then at North Devon College, he also helped his parents run the family dairy farm.


Commencing his accountancy career in 1965, he joined Stevens & Willey in 1972, before becoming a partner of the firm in 1976. In addition to his accountancy qualification David studied for and obtained the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate, leading to membership of the Society of Financial Advisers and Institute of Financial Planning, giving him a broad knowledge and experience of financial matters generally.


He is married to Pat (who also worked at Stevens & Willey) and they have two sons, one working in the USA and the other is a Grammar School teacher in Kent. David is a keen sportsman and played Rugby for South Molton RFC (including two years as 1st XI Captain), tennis at Park Lane Tennis Club (where again he spent two years as captain of the 1st team) and squash at the Riverside Squash Club. He has also run three sub four hour marathons, one of which being the 1988 London Marathon, when he raised over £2,000 for local charities.


Off the field, David served as a Governor of Bishops Tawton Primary School and has been heavily involved with a number of local community and sporting organisations, serving as Treasurer for several of them.
